Allison and Jake are so cool I wish I could just follow them around with a camera all the time! Their wedding was at Apple Barn Farm, which is a Hudson Valley wedding venue that I’ve been hoping to photograph for several years now. They prepared themselves for their ceremony at a beautiful farmhouse right outside of Hudson called The Farmhouse at Route 66. Jake helped Allison tie her dress and it was so touching to watch I wondered why other couples don’t do this! Allison and Jake wanted to have some pictures taken before the ceremony at the farmhouse, and after they got ready we did just that. The house and grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the weather was phenomenal. At Apple Barn Farm, Allison’s dad drove her to the aisle in an old Chevy pickup to the amusement of the wedding guests, and their ceremony was filled with many, many sentimental and personalized moments. There were hay rides during cocktail hour, an amazing bluegrass band that played during cocktail hour and half of the reception, an awesome dance-off, an outfit change by the newly married couple (to accommodate a choreographed dance to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”), a “Best Grandma” award presentation for Jake’s grandmother, an unbelievable rap song written and performed by Allison’s brother, crowd surfing, a limbo pole, a photo booth (blog post to follow soon!), a bonfire, and sparklers! It was like a rock star’s wedding.
Apple Barn Farm is among the very best of wedding venues in the Hudson Valley, and is worth seriously considering if you are looking for a location for your ceremony and reception!
