I love Locust Grove Estate weddings! They combine so much of the natural beauty, history, and convenience that the Hudson Valley has to offer. The Estate is the former home of Samuel Morse, painter and inventor of the telegraph. Interestingly, Morse dabbled a bit with photography and actually taught Matthew Brady (renowned American Civil War photographer) about the daguerreotype. Anyway, back to this wedding! Christa and Andrew are awesome. They both got ready at the Marriott Courtyard in Poughkeepsie that is right next door and then met in the beautiful English Garden at Locust Grove for a sweet first look. We then took family photos, which was great because it freed up their cocktail hour to enjoy the company of their family and friends. Christa and Andrew’s wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful. It started promptly at 6:29pm (6/29 is the anniversary of when they first started dating) and was intimate and lovely. The location for wedding ceremonies at Locust Grove is truly gorgeous on a summer evening. The sunlight filters through the old growth trees and creates an almost surreal experience. I loved listening to the toasts during the reception and the dancing was insane! This wedding was so much fun to document.
Christa and Andrew’s DJ was the amazing DJ Bri Swatek. If you are in the market for a DJ be sure to check him out. I’ve worked with him a bunch and he always delivers an awesome time!
Congratulations Christa and Andrew!
